This cultivar of the Japanese barberry is a very dense rounded, thorny, deciduous shrub usually broader than tall at maturity. It produces perfect yellow flowers in April to May that bring forth bright red berries starting in October and persisting into the winter months. Plant in full sun to optimize the velvety rich burgundy color in summer and fall.

Interesting Notes:
